FAQ-Water Heater Pilot Flame Shutdown…What can be done?
January 27th, 2008The water heater discussed are models manufactured after July 2003 complaint with the new safety standards mandated for tank type gas water heaters under 75 gallon storage capacity. There are now ten’s of thousands of these heaters (FVIR) Flammable Vapor Ignition Resistant now installed in homes through out the USA. I am addressing the pilot outage that occurs with this model.

I experience it more often early in the winter months. Service request to repair the pipe which burst.I would like to make a few suggestions but first explain why a burst in a pipe happens and the unseen consequences. Pictured to the left is a copper water pipe that was screaming… A pipe burst is caused by pressure. Once its under stood how it occurs you can take the pro-active steps to prevent it from happening.
